Dersin Amacı

To provide the understanding of the content, basic notions and principles of Folklore as a field of science, and the study methods of Folklore in the past and present.

Past and present definitions of folklore, The notion, definition and content of folklore. Fielf of study, objectives and basic features. History of folklore studies around the world and in Turkey. Sources and framework of folklore and its relation to other disciplines. Methods and analyses of folklore studies, theories and approaches based on text and context.
