Dersin Amacı
Aim of this course is to teach these subjects respectively: Seismic stratigraphical approach and method. Principles of seismic stratigraphic interpretation. Geological meaning of seismic reflections. Structural geological interpretation of seismic reflection data. Seismic sections and interpretation axamples. Seismic reflection and time stratigraphy. Unconformities lopout (baselap(onlap, downlap), toplap, truncation, erosion) in stratigraphy. Seismic "Sequence" Analysis. Method of "Sequence" stratigraphical interpretation. Seismic fasies analysis. Seismic fasies types (paralel, progradational, mound and onlap) and seismic fasies maps. Main problems in the seismic stratigraphical interpretation. Importance of data processing in seismic stratigraphical interpretation.
Dersin İçeriği
The goal of the course is to impart an understanding of the basics of seismic stratigraphic interpretation, with an emphasis on the practical side as used in the petroleum industry. The seismic reflection technique will be briefly covered and followed by a selection of readings on seismic and sequence stratigraphy. Laboratory exercises will focus on interpreting seismic data, both 2D and 3D using computer interpretation programs.
