Dersin Amacı
To examine the transition from translation practice to ´´ Translation Studies´´. To grasp the translation theories, methods and procedures within the light of scientific thought. To define the application of abovementioned information in translation and to know the theorists so far within translation studies.

1 The ability to use theoretical and applied knowledge in the related fields by having a sufficient amount of information on translation and translatorship. X
2 The ability to detect problems in translation, define and formulize them; to this aim the ability to choose and apply appropriate analysis and modelling procedures. X
3 The ability to understand the translation process and translation product by also taking into account the cultural differences between languages and specialized field terminologies, to interpret both of them, to solve the related problems, to apply the contemporary procedures.
4 The ability to transfer theoretical information of other disciplines that can be acquired by students to the translation performance, i.e choosing another course outside the related department. Students acquire inter disciplinary awareness in this way.
5 The ability to choose contemporary tools necessary for translation practices, to ability to use them, the ability to develop them and/ or the ability to use information technologies such as computer aided translation programs effectively.
6 The ability to analyze the translation process with further or past studies, the ability to archive, the ability to analyze the text and the ability to interpret.

9 The ability to have life learning consciousness, the ability to access information, the ability to follow developments about science and field and the ability to adapt them.
10 The ability to have professional ethics and responsibility related to the field.
11 The awareness about the position of the universal and social dimensions of translatorship and translation practices and their effects.
